What is IHWO?
The origins of IHWO date back to 1953, when John and Brita Haycraft founded the first International House school in Cordova, where, in addition to language courses, the first training courses in applied didactics were held. They instituted the IH Certificate, which later became the Cambridge CELTA, thereby giving an innovative impetus to the teaching of English to foreigners.
The International House World Organisation is today an organisation with around 140 member schools worldwide that comply with quality standards in language teaching. To ensure a high level of teaching, the managers of International House schools as well as the teaching and administrative staff attend regular training courses and the schools affiliated to the organisation are periodically inspected by qualified IHWO members.
